Todd Feels for the First Time!

It only seems right that during the World Cup that Todd would feel his little one kick for the first time! Todd was a little surprised at the slight movement he felt, but he recognized it right away.  The aww on Todd’s face was priceless. He has been so jealous that I have been able to feel the baby and he hasn’t! He was so excited sitting next to me feeling the baby move. He was the proudest father ever!!
Todd now thinks our little munchkin is going to be a soccer player!

Father's Day

Last night I had the privilege of unveiling Todd’s first Father’s Day present!! Our son and I decided that we were going to get Daddy a grill! With the help of our good friend Rick, I had the grill delivered to the house. (Fortunately Todd was working late so I did not have to worry about him coming home.) Emily came over to help Rick unload it and we put it on the porch. We walked Rick out to his truck and then went back outside to “stage” the porch and grill.
Little did we know that when we closed the french doors that we would lock ourselves out! (This is now my fourth time locking myself out due to the notorious locks on our doors!!) Emily and I just laughed at ourselves as soon as we realized what happened. Of course both our phones were locked in the house, so I had to go meet our neighbors for the first time and ask to use their phone. Fortunately, they were very friendly and I was able to call my mom. She came to the rescue as always!!
My mom drove over to the house and let us in and then both she and Emily helped me rearrange the patio furniture and the grill. Todd came home shortly after they left and I was so excited to show him. I told him that while he was working I rearranged the patio furniture and put a light on the porch for him. He walked out to see it (really thinking that I was busy doing my usual redecorating) and was completely shocked to find his very own grill!
He loves the grill (A Weber Spirit 310) and he can’t wait to cook us something on it. So all in all, I believe my first Father’s Day gift was a success!!

Boy or Girl

I woke up this morning thinking, “Am I having a boy or a girl?”.  I was extremely excited to find out, but I was also nervous about the baby being healthy. (As all mothers are I am sure!) Todd and I got ready and then we met my Mom at the hospital for the ultrasound. I felt as if time stood still as we waited for them to call us back. When they finally called my name, you would have thought we were a bunch of kids going to Disney. We all jumped up with the biggest smiles on our faces (Especially Daddy!)
When we went back to our exam room, the sonogrpaher explained the anatomic sonogram and what exactly they were looking/checking for. She informed us that the primary reason for the sonogram was not to determine the sex of the baby and that if the baby was not giving her a good view she would continue on with the scan.
Little did she know that he was more than willing to show us his manhood! The baby was a BOY!!! There he was on the screen, with his legs wide open! It was so shocking at first, mostly because my entire family thought it would be a girl. However, Todd and I couldn’t have been more thrilled. (Later in the car Todd mentioned to me that he wanted a boy first so he could protect his future younger sister!)
At that moment I felt incredible! I was having a son! After the appointment we had lunch with mom and then Daddy took me shopping. I did a little bit of damage, but how could you say no to such adorable little outfits!

Twenty Weeks!

Half way there!!! I’m twenty weeks today and our little munchkin is the size of a banana (7 inches and 10 ounces)! It’s fascinating how quickly a baby can grow. I feel as if our baby knew it was a big day in his/her growth because he/she was swimming around and moving more than ever! Before, it felt like little bubbles (as if the baby was blowing bubble gum) and now it feels more like a butterfly flapping its wings!
Todd and I have so many emotions and love for this little human being that we have yet to hold. Todd has been truly amazing when it comes to researching, helping me, loving me and doing everything a father to be is suppose to do and more.  It fills my heart with joy to know and see the love he has for our child. He wrote a poem for our little one and I would like to share it with you.
Boy or Girl?
We're bringing a child into this world,
Don't know yet whether boy or girl;
Some say tis wrong, tis a crying shame,
In a world full of hate, suffering, pain.

Whether good or bad, our hearts are glad,
Such love for a child, yet to be had;
A bundle of joy, sent from above,
Expecting parents, filled with pure love.

So let the journey begin, of sleepless nights,
And countless days, made joyful and bright!
Don't know yet whether boy or girl,
But we'll love this child, more than all the world!
